Handwoven Chuspata Star Tray (L: 29cm x W: 33cm x H: 5cm) – MichoacΓ‘n, Mexico

Handwoven by Zeferino and his family in PuΓ‘cuaro, MichoacΓ‘n, this heart tray is crafted from chuspata β€” a reed that grows along the shores of Lake PΓ‘tzcuaro and is harvested just once a year. Each strand is dried in the sun, then moistened before weaving to give it the flexibility needed to shape the design, supported by a hand-formed wire frame.

The force and precision involved are remarkable β€” the weave must be tight and the pattern perfectly clean for the tray to be both durable and functional. Known for its fresh, natural fragrance, chuspata is often harvested by elderly craftspeople who know the rhythms of the lake and its reeds.

Use it as a decorative tray, a catch-all on a desk or dresser, or simply display it on a wall or shelf for a touch of natural texture.

Each tray by Zeferino and his family is a small part of that story..

Please note: As chuspata is a natural woven fibre, small strands or fibres may occasionally pull or show β€” this is completely normal and part of the charm of a handmade natural product.

Ceramic Tree of Life – Metepec, Edo. de México

H: 17.5cm x L: 15cm

Handcrafted by the Familia Ortega in Metepec, Estado de México, this ceramic tree of life is built entirely by hand from clay and wire. Each flower, leaf and Monarch butterfly shaped and painted individually before being assembled into the finished piece.

The árbol de la vida is one of Mexico's most iconic folk art traditions, and Metepec is its spiritual home. Every element you see - the pink roses, the turquoise blooms, the tiny butterflies, is formed separately, fired, and placed with extraordinary precision.

Each tree is one of a kind. Dimensions may vary slightly as every piece is handmade.

Glazed Clay Pineapple – Blue – San José de Gracias, Michoacán

H: 17 (approx.)

Handcrafted by Jesus Guadalupe in San José de Gracias, Michoacán, this glazed blue clay pineapple is made entirely by hand using natural clay, a family tradition now in its fourth generation.

The pineapple is one of the most beloved forms in San José de Gracias, where artisans have long transformed clay into decorative pieces and serving vessels (soperas & poncheras) each one shaped by hand and brought to life with bold glazes and intricate surface detail. The form has evolved over generations, but the craft remains the same: entirely handmade, rooted in family and place.

A piece this size takes Jesus around two days to complete, from shaping to firing to the final glaze.

Each pineapple is made with alegría (joy) and that's exactly what it's meant to bring into your home.

The quality is next level, and the products are absolutely beautiful, vibrant, colourful and clearly made with incredible care and craftsmanship. Each piece feels unique and meaningful rather than mass-produced. • The most beautiful, vibrant pieces that really brighten your home up! My baby is obsessed with the rattles. We bought a few since she loves them so much! Also have bought a few decor items and I love them so much I have bought several as gifts! Beautiful pieces that you can feel good about purchasing as you’re supporting local artists in Mexico and a local, women led business in Scotland.

    - Aly K.

  • It's been a wonderful shopping experience. All items are beautifully curated and come with such a wealth of personal story, both about the Mexican craft as well as the individual crafts(wo)men. I ordered Christmas gifts - an exquisite woven purse and a set of delicately carved cups - and the recipients couldn't have been happier. I am already on the waiting list to buy the cups for myself; definitely a return shopper here!
