OtomΓ Beaded Sunflower Necklace – Yellow – San Pablito, Puebla

Handcrafted by MoisΓ©s in San Pablito, Puebla, this sunflower necklace is made from chaquira beads and plastic string, woven in the OtomΓ style β€” the heritage and language his family proudly preserves.

Flowers are one of the most beloved motifs in OtomΓ beadwork, rooted in a deep connection to nature that runs through the tradition. Handwoven Chuspata Puerquito Bag – MichoacΓ‘n, Mexico

Handwoven by Zeferino and his family in PuΓ‘cuaro, MichoacΓ‘n, this beautiful puerquito (pig) bag is crafted from chuspata, a reed that grows along the shores of Lake PΓ‘tzcuaro. Known for its fresh, natural fragrance, the chuspata is harvested only once a year, often by elderly craftspeople who know the rhythms of the lake and its reeds.

Each strand is carefully dried in the sun, then moistened before weaving to give it the flexibility needed to shape the design. The force and precision required are remarkable: the weave must be tight and the pattern perfectly clean for the bag to be both durable and functional.

More than a bag, each creation celebrates the imagination and skill of MichoacΓ‘n’s artisans.
