Why “Rooted in Mexico”?

Because everything we do is grounded in our roots — from the techniques and materials to the colours and culture.

Who makes the products?

Every piece is handcrafted by artisans across Mexico. We work directly with them, so each creation carries their story, traditions and love. You’ll find a short bio about each maker on the product page — because we believe their voices and stories deserve to be celebrated as much as their art.

Are all items unique?

Yes — since each piece is 100% handmade, no two are exactly alike. That’s part of their beauty!

Why do you only have small batches available?

We work with small makers, and every piece is handmade — no mass production. Their work takes time, and we respect that. For now, we bring limited batches as we’re just starting and testing.

How do you support artisans beyond selling their work?

Our aim is to showcase their creations internationally and help them build the skills and confidence to reach wider markets. With Constanza’s experience in sustainability and business advisory, our long-term goal is to support artisans in gaining the recognition and fair pay their work deserves. We always pay fairly, and above all, we want people to see and value the incredible work of Mexican artisans and their communities.

How do I know artisans are paid fairly?

We work directly with makers and agree on fair prices with them. Our goal is always to ensure they receive the recognition and pay their work deserves. Rooted in Mexico exists to support artisans, keep culture alive and build genuine relationships. For us, the connection with our makers is the most important part of what we do.

What is your approach to sustainability?

Sustainability is at the heart of Rooted in Mexico. With Constanza’s background in sustainability, we carefully choose artisans whose processes align with our values. Many come from Indigenous communities, where traditional practices already respect nature and carry valuable lessons about caring for the planet. We continue to learn from them and collaborate on ways to minimise the impact of materials and production. On our side, we also keep packaging to a minimum and use only recyclable materials.

Why are your prices different from mass-produced items?

Because every piece is handmade, often using traditional techniques passed down through generations. You’re paying for skill, time, and artistry — not mass production.

Will my item look exactly like the photo?

Each of our pieces is handmade, so no two will ever be exactly alike. Small variations in colour, shape or finish aren’t flaws — they’re part of what makes each creation unique, authentic and full of character.

How do I care for my item?

Care instructions vary depending on the material (beads, palm, rattan, textiles). We include tips with each product to help it last a lifetime.
