Barro Negro Heart-Shaped Mini Dishes (pair)

£26.00

Barro Negro Heart-Shaped Mini Dishes (pair) – Valles Centrales, Oaxaca

H: 8cm x L: 7cm x W: 3cm

Small enough to sit in the palm of your hand, it's perfect for a pinch of salt, a spoonful of salsa or as a little trinket dish for rings and earrings.

Handcrafted by Familia Pérez in the Valles Centrales of Oaxaca, this little heart-shaped dish is shaped and burnished by hand using barro negro, the region's distinctive black clay. A small bud sits at the top of each piece, a simple detail that echoes the shape of a pomegranate or seed pod.

Barro negro gets its deep, almost metallic black finish from the clay itself and the way it's fired, then burnished by hand with a stone or quartz until it takes on a soft sheen. No glaze is used, the colour and shine come entirely from the clay and the maker's technique.

Please note that as each piece is handmade, slight variations may occur, making every item beautifully unique.

  • Our Barro Negro is Lead free

  • Natural Pigments (The residue of the natural pigment may be noticeable when you touch it, these pigments or residues are not harmful)

  • Hand Wash (wash it before use)
Barro Negro is baked at low temperatures, making it not suitable for microwave or dishwasher use. Please hand wash and let it fully dry before the next use.
