We started Rooted in Mexico to share the work of artesanos we know by name, and some things are best shared in person.

That's why we're planning a series of gatherings here in Edinburgh: a chance to see the craft up close, hear the stories of the women and men who make each piece, and celebrate the colour and alegría of the Mexico we grew up in.

Some will be hands-on, some will mark the traditions closest to our hearts, and every one will be a celebration of Mexican culture and the traditions behind each craft.

First event - Mezcal, Food & Tradition: A Día de Muertos Celebration

Friday 23 & Saturday 24 October · The Finch, Edinburgh

Join Rooted in Mexico, Pelo de Perro Mezcal and Guisados at The Finch for an evening of mezcal, food and stories ahead of Día de Muertos.

Our tables will be decorated in true Día de Muertos style, with a traditional ofrenda at the heart of the room. Bring a photo of someone you'd like to remember, and we'll place it on the altar to honour them through the night.

Just like a Día de Muertos table, you'll sit down together with other guests, so come ready to share food, stories and maybe leave with a few new friends.

🌮 A three-course tasting menu from Guisados, paired with the mezcals

💀 A conversation about Día de Muertos: its traditions, its meaning, and why the dead are always invited to the party

🖤 A handmade barro negro mezcal copita from Oaxaca to take home
