Barro Negro Heart Carita Mug

£25.00

Barro Negro Heart Carita Mug (150ml) – Valles Centrales, Oaxaca

A heart-shaped twist on our classic Carita mug, with the same character and a shape built to hold your morning coffee, afternoon tea, or a cheeky hot chocolate.

Made by the Familia Pérez, black clay artisans from San Bartolo Coyotepec in Oaxaca's Valles Centrales. Now in its third generation, the family's workshop has practised the craft for the past 20 years, with each piece shaped by Andrea, Lisset, Eva or Armando, who all learned the same way it's always been taught here: through family tradition.

The black clay comes straight from a mine in their own community, and each piece moves through around twelve stages, taking up to 15 days depending on the design. It's carved, hand-burnished with a quartz stone for that signature sheen, then finished with fine, matte detailing. Every piece has its own name, with imagery drawn from the milagritos of Mexican tradition and the love shared within the family.

Please note that as each piece is handmade, slight variations may occur, making every item beautifully unique. Our Barro Negro is Lead free.
